Free Meals 2020-2021

The pandemic is already stressful, let us handle the meals! Frenship ISD and Aramark are excited to announce that breakfast and lunch will be FREE for all students across the District starting December 1, 2020 through the end of this school year. That’s right… every single Frenship student – whether they’re face-to-face or virtual – can eat for free! This means our Frenship families could potentially save hundreds of dollars this school year.

*Students will still have to pay for extra a la carte items and the snack foods.

When are the free meals available?

All Frenship students can receive a free standard breakfast and lunch every school day starting December 1, 2020 through the end of the 2020-2021 school year on May 20, 2021. (Virtual Learner meal pick up days are every Tuesday).

How is this possible?

Frenship and Aramark are able to offer the basic breakfast and lunch at no cost to families thanks to the Seamless Summer Option (SSO) program through the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Who is eligible and how do they get the free meals?

Face-to-Face Learners: All Frenship students regardless of income or campus are eligible to receive the free breakfast and lunch each school day. No extra steps are necessary, and students can simply go through the lunch line to get their free meals.

Virtual Learners: Our Virtual Learners are also automatically eligible for the free meals. Virtual Learner meal pick up days are every Tuesday starting December 1 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Pick up locations are Westwind Elementary or Ninth Grade Center. Each Tuesday, Virtual Learners will be able to pick up meals for five days a week. *Please note: Virtual Learners will no longer pick-up meals at their home campus. They must pick up the meals at Westwind or NGC.

Non-Frenship Students: This program also allows our District to offer free curbside meals to ANY child 18 years old or younger even if they’re not a Frenship student. The child must be present in the vehicle to pick up the meal. Meal pick-up will be every Tuesday starting December 1 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Westwind Elementary or Ninth Grade Center.

What’s included in the free meals?

Meals will vary each day. Only the standard breakfast and lunch are covered.

For Middle Schools this includes - Café Line, Grill Line, Pizza Line, Tortilla Line, Deli Line

For High School this includes – Café Line, Wing Toss Line, Grill Line, Tortilla Line, Deli Line

Students will still have to pay for any extra items, a la carte items, and snacks.

I already put money on my student’s lunch account. What do I do?

Parents have two options:

    1. You can leave the money on the account for your student to purchase extra food items, a la carte items, and snacks.
    2. You can request a refund. Please contact 806.866.9389 or gfoster@frenship.us to start the refund process.

Any money left on the lunch account at the end of the year will roll over to the next school year.

Do Virtual Learners or non-Frenship students have to call or sign up to get the curbside meals?

No sign up is required. Virtual Learners and the non-Frenship students 18 years old or younger can swing by Westwind or the Ninth Grade Center on Tuesdays starting December 1 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. to pick up the free meals.
