Two Veteran FISD Leaders Selected to Lead in New Roles

Frenship ISD Superintendent Dr. Michelle McCord introduced the promotion of two administrators to new roles within the district during the Board of Trustees monthly meeting Thursday night.

Twenty-year veteran educator Cassandra Slayton has been named the Executive Director of Leadership Development while long-time FISD campus administrator Jill Jaquess has been named the Director of Special Education.

Slayton, who has served the students of FISD in various capacities since 2007, has been in staff leadership roles the previous nine years. After leading her colleagues as Math Coordinator from 2010-2016, she’s led as the district’s Director of Curriculum and Instruction for three years.

Slayton will serve campus principals to ensure a consistent frame of thinking that aligns with the FISD Strategic Plan across all campuses.

“I am so honored to serve Frenship ISD in this new role,” Slayton said. “We have incredible campus administrators, and I look forward to us growing together in leadership to further support student success and continue our district’s rich tradition of excellence.

“Frenship has been an amazing home to raise our three children, and I am humbled by the opportunity to serve in this capacity.”

Jaquess, the current principal at Terra Vista Middle School, has served on the campus administrative team since the TVMS opened in 2006. Prior to FISD, she served as a high school special education teacher.

“Serving Frenship ISD as the Director of Special Education is an incredible honor,” Jaquess said. “Our Special Education department will continue to provide students with the tools to experience success in either a school, social or work setting.

“I am honored to serve this community and the Frenship family. We have a culture of excellence here, and I am fortunate to be part of it.”
