In August of 2023, Frenship ISD will open a fourth middle school, Alcove Trails Middle School, to accommodate the growth in student enrollment. This will impact attendance zones for the middle school campuses. Guided by School Board Policy (FC Local), Frenship ISD gathered input from Frenship parents and community members on the zone considerations. During the process, three public town hall meetings were held to provide information on the proposed boundary options, gather feedback, and hear public comments.

In August of 2023, Frenship ISD will open a fourth middle school, Alcove Trails Middle School, to accommodate the growth in student enrollment and alleviate crowding in the existing middle schools. The addition of the new middle school will impact the attendance boundaries for the 2023-2024 school year.

Based on community input, along with growth and enrollment projections and research, the Frenship Board of Trustees approved new 2023-2024 attendance boundaries.

This grandfathering information applies to current (2022-2023 school year) Frenship ISD 7th grade students who currently attend Frenship ISD and have been affected by the changes to our campus boundary lines. Students who are new to Frenship ISD for the 2023-2024 school year, must register and attend their home campus as determined by the district attendance boundaries.

*If you are parent of a current 7th grader impacted by the changes in attendance boundaries, you will receive a letter in the mail with information on grandfathering along with a grandfather request form to submit no later than February 27th.

  • Current 7th grade students going into 8th grade for the 2023-2024 school year who reside in the Frenship ISD boundaries may elect to attend their current middle school during the 2023-2024 school year. This ONLY applies to current 7th graders.
  • Parents must complete and submit a grandfather notification form to their campus office by February 27.
  • Students must meet transfer criteria. However, for the 2023-2024 school year, the younger sibling(s) must attend the middle school within their home boundaries.
  • Current 7th grade students who elect to attend a middle school other than their assigned campus for the 2023-2024 school year will not be eligible for transportation.
    • Parents whose grandfather requests are approved will be responsible for providing transportation to and from the campus.
  • Student transfers may be revoked for lack of academic progress, poor attendance, late arrivals, or misconduct. FDA (LOCAL)
  • These decisions are final and are not appealable.
  • Students in the specialized programs of Focus, Life Skills or Dual language can call Student Services with any questions.
