FISD Announces New Director of Communications and Community Engagement

Frenship ISD is proud to announce Emily Solis, former Communications Manager at Casey Administration, as the district’s Director of Communications and Community Engagement. The announcement of Solis’s new role came Monday as the FISD Board of Trustees unanimously accepted the recommendation from district administration.

In the role, Solis will serve as director of the Frenship Foundation and continue to work in communications for the district.

Superintendent, Dr. Michelle McCord, said Solis’s fourteen years of experience in communications has made her the best candidate for the position. “She has vast experience in creative strategy, fundraising and relationship management,” Dr. McCord said. “She brings a diverse skill set and is well-connected in the business community.”

Solis has served Frenship since February 2018 in the Public Relations Department. In her former role, she managed the district’s brand, communication strategies and material.

Solis was also the driving force behind the district’s first-ever magazine publication titled Inside Frenship. Her idea that was kindled last February came to fruition in August 2018 when 15,000 copies of the 64-page back-to-school publication were distributed throughout the community. The page layouts, graphic design work and content organization were all produced through Solis’s creative eye. Not only did the magazine serve as a great promotional tool for FISD, but it also included 34 business sponsorships.

The financial impact for the Public Relations department in her first year was $47,000. These funds pour back into district programs such as Tiger Bites, the Frenship Way initiative, teacher appreciation and more.

Her work and dedication to FISD was recognized at the Texas School Public Relations Association conference where she was awarded one of their most prestigious awards of the year, the 2019 Rookie of the Year Award.

“Being a part of the Frenship community, both as a parent and a professional, has been the best experience,” said Solis. “I am honored, grateful and excited to continue to serve Frenship in this new capacity.”
