Defense Leads Girls Basketball to Continued Success

The Tigers traveled to Amarillo to face the Tascosa Rebels on Tuesday.

Frenship came out swinging, and Maci Maddox scored 9 of her 17 points in the first half. Kaylee Rendon consistently found the back side of the defense on the way to 14 points in the first half, and a new single game season high for the Tigers with 24 points.

The Tiger defense wreaked havoc on the Lady Rebels all night, holding them to only 9 points in the second and third quarters. Ashlyn Caddell buried the Rebels with five three-pointers in the second half on her way to 22 points of her own in the contest. Frenship rolled to an 86-50 victory, a surprising result considering the four overtime affair between the two teams in the Tiger Pit in 2019.

Frenship returned to action Friday at home and dominated the Midland High Lady Bulldogs 69-25. Maci Maddox was the only Tiger in double digits with 15 points in the contest. Riley Roberts and Kaylee Rendon both chipped in 9 points on the evening and Avery Walker-Henry added 8 of her own. Once again, the Tiger defense was dominant, holding the Bulldogs to single digit scoring in three quarters, including allowing only 1 point in the first and 4 in the fourth.

Rendon has been nominated for the Lone Star Varsity Female Athlete of the Week, if selected she will join Maci Maddox as the second member of the girls basketball squad to earn the honor this season. Frenship Nation has seen eight recipients of this award in 2019-2020. Fans can vote for Rendon HERE through Thursday.

The Tigers will return to action on Tuesday, January 28 on the road against the Odessa Permian Lady Panthers at 6:00pm. Fans can hear the game on Double T 97.3, www.doublet973.com, or on their mobile app with Chois Woodman on the call.
