Logan Vargas Commits to Swing it in Houston

Vargas has been an ongoing contributor to a golf team with three consecutive District 2-6A Championships under their belt. He took first place last fall at the West Texas Classic that saw two of his teammates, and current Texas Tech Golfers, Jayce Hargrove and Brian Boles finish second and third respectively. The Frenship Boys team was enjoying an exceptional season with multiple top three finishes as a team before their season was cut short in the spring.

“Logan comes from a family of very good golfers, his sister currently plays at Kansas State,” explained Frenship Boys Golf Coach Dan McDonald. “Logan has consistently been in our ‘top five’ since his freshman year and has been on the radar of college coaches since he was 10 years old. He works extremely hard and will leave behind a strong legacy for others to follow.”

The Cougars compete in the American Athletic Conference (AAC) as part of the NCAA. Houston’s golf program is one of the most storied in the sport. The Cougars boast 16 NCAA National Championships as a team and eight individual champions, placing them second only to Yale University.

Once officially signed, Vargas will be the fourth Tiger golfer in five years to advance to a Division I university program joining Hargrove, Boles, and Trip Wallace who signed with Kansas State University.
