Frenship High School National Honor Society Hosts Fund Drive to Benefit South Plains Food Bank

Katie Castellano, FHS Senior and National Honor Society Historian, said Frenship has participated in the U Can Share Food Drive for as long as she can remember, and she wanted to make sure this year was no different.

“This year we had a dress up week for students and teachers,” Castellano said. “Students paid $2 per day to dress up, or $10 for the whole week. Monday is loungewear and pajamas, Tuesday is Hawaiian Day, Wednesday is College Day, Thursday is Jersey Day, and Friday is Ugly Sweater and Christmas wear.”

Castellano said the NHS officers are always excited for this time of year, and they love to get the entire school involved in giving back to the community.

“I know a lot of people that just really need it,” Castellano said. “I know the food drive each year is an amazing opportunity to give back to those people that really need it, especially this close to the holidays.”

Castellano said in addition to the U Can Share Fund Drive, NHS organizes opportunities for people to give back to the food bank on a regular basis, as well as Carpenter’s Kitchen.

“Students can check out our webpage for volunteer opportunities and sign up,” Castellano said.
