Frenship Boys Basketball Remains Undefeated in District Play

The Tigers faced off against Odessa High on January 8 in Odessa. They started off the game strong when early in the first, Jeb Smallwood stole the ball for a fast-break that resulted in two. The Broncos were close behind in the middle of the first quarter when Tate Beeles sunk a three-pointer.

At the beginning of the second quarter, the Tigers maintained their lead when Devin Hartfield stole the ball for a fast break and two points. Frenship held the lead for the entire game, ending with a victory over the Broncos, 75-46.

Leading scorers were Tate Beeles with 17 points, Tracy Godfrey with 14 points and TJ Miller with 14 points.

On January 12, the Tigers took on the Midland High Bulldogs at the Tiger Pit. The Bulldogs were trailing close behind in the first quarter, but the Tigers had back to back three-pointers by TJ Miller and Jake Armstrong to help solidify Frenship’s lead.

The Tigers ended the game with 13 steals and a 71-percent free throw average. Top scorers were Devin Hartfield with an outstanding 27 points, TJ Miller with 17 points, and Tracy Godfey with 10.

Frenship Boys Basketball head coach Paul Page said his team is focused on the games ahead.

“Friday’s game will be a pivotal district matchup with San Angelo Central,” Page said. “An important home game that we will have to be focused for and ready to compete against a very good team. We look forward to Coach Villegas’ return to Frenship as he brings his 12-5 (2-2) Bobcats to the Tiger Pit!”
