Frenship Bowler Advances to State Competition

McCleery said she has been bowling since she was just three years old.

“My family have always been bowlers so I just sort of grew up around it,” McCleery said. “I joined the Frenship bowling team about two weeks after it started because I wasn't sure if I would have time for it.”

McCleery said she is glad she joined because it gave her so much to be proud of.

“My meets all went well - I wouldn't have changed anything about them even when we lost,” McCleery said. “I think that when we lost the matches, or in the tournament, that we still gained experience and learned about ball reactions with different oil patterns. If I'm being honest, I don't really know how many I’ve competed in this year, but it's been a lot.”

McCleery said that advancing to the State competition wasn’t easy but it was worth it.

“There were some good bowlers I was competing against, but I know what I'm capable of, so I performed to the best of my abilities,” McCleery said. “Going to state was important considering this is our first year having a high school bowling team, so to get the chance and the opportunity to compete and to be the top in the state was exciting.”

McCleery competed in the State competition and represented Frenship well. She will play in the All-District tournament this weekend in College Station.
