Frenship Girls Basketball Headed to Playoffs

Frenship Tiger Girls Basketball (11-1) locked up their portion of the District 2-6A Championship Tuesday evening in their final regular season game as they took down the Midland High Lady Bulldogs 83-46 in the Tiger Pit. That marks the sixth consecutive season the Tigers have won at least a share of the crown.

Frenship was led by senior Mikah Chapman who knocked down 24 points, followed by Andie Caddell with 16 and Abbi Holder with 14.

The Tigers are set to make their 20th consecutive playoff appearance in what they hope will be another deep run for a program that sets their sights on the State Tournament each season. Tiger history looms large in a program with three straight 30-win seasons and Regional Tournament berths on their resume.

When asked about the weight of program success and how it effects the team, Head Coach Trent Hilliard replied, “I think our kids take a lot of pride in the successes that Frenship girls basketball has had in the past.  Some of them have had older sisters that have been a part of that success.”

Hilliard went on to say, “the old saying that ‘Tradition Never Graduates’ is perfect for us. We strive to match and exceed what the teams before us have done.  We celebrate what Coach Tipton and Coach Lowrey established here – it is what makes Frenship Girls Basketball such a special place. The trophies and the banners are not only reminders of the expectations but also reminders that we have lots of people who are pulling for us to do and experience what they were able to do.”

The Tigers are slated to play on Monday, February 14 at 4:00 p.m. against El Paso Coronado in Fort Stockton. Tickets will be available cash only at the gate the day of the game. Prices are $5 for adults and $3 for students.

Frenship T.V. will have the game for you live HERE and on Double T 97.3.
