Frenship ISD Continues to SERVE the Community

The Champions for Youth Award is presented annually to a partner of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Lubbock who goes above and beyond in supporting the club’s mission of providing a safe and positive environment for children to interact with others and learn life skills.

With the construction of the Talkington Boys and Girls Club at 26th & Kewanee in Frenship ISD district, the club has begun serving hundreds of Frenship students. Frenship decided to partner with the Boys and Girls Club by providing bus transportation to the clubs for after-school activities and providing summer meals as part of our Tiger Bites program.

In February of 2021, Frenship Football, the Superintendent’s Advisory Board, and Frenship administration assisted with a Saturday food box distribution of 1300 boxes of bulk food items and gallons of milk. The project took shape over the course of just a couple of days and was extremely successful. Frenship students who assisted saw firsthand the need for food security in our community and how many hands working together can make a huge impact in a short period of time, in this case a Saturday morning.

“They say it takes a village to raise a child. School districts and community organizations like the Boys and Girls Club of Lubbock have vital roles to play in not only educating children but also in helping ensure they are safe, supported, and have what they need to thrive. We are so appreciative of the Boys and Girls Club for this award, but are even more thankful for the work they do for children in Frenship ISD and across Lubbock County. We’re proud to partner with an organization that has been making an impact on lives every day since 1940.” Keith Patrick, Director of Entrepreneurship & Innovation at Frenship ISD.
