Allsup's Donates $2,500 to Threads and Treads

The donation will go directly to students in need. The Threads and Treads program was established in 2020, with the intent of giving students who might go without access to brand-new shoes and clothes. The program was initially established with a gift from an anonymous donor who wanted students to be able to feel the pride of owning nice, brand new clothing items.

When a counselor at any of the Frenship campuses discovers a need, they are able to use the funds go shopping for that student. The program allows students to 'look good, feel good.'

Willow Bend Elementary counselor Jessica Nietsch said that she has seen students benefit from the program.

"The students have been very excited to try on and wear new pairs of shoes," Nietsch said. "It is a joy to see their faces light up when they open up that box. This is something that some of the students don’t get the benefit of doing very often."

Nietsch said she loves the fact that when a student has clothes or shoes that are falling apart, or are too small, she is able to go out and get them something brand new.

"Threads and Treads helps to put a smile on a child's face and provide financial help to the parents," Nietsch said. "These new shoes or clothes are different than what our school clothing closet can provide. It is something that students and parents are so grateful for."

Allsup's is helping Frenship put smiles on more students faces.
