Frenship High School Student Council Support Susan G. Komen

Over the last few years, Lubbock has not held an in person walk for the Susan G Komen Foundation, so Frenship High School student council students decided to participate virtually and combat breast cancer.

Each student was asked to download an app and track their steps while sending our team page to their family and friends who might want to sponsor them. In all FHS student council had 18 team members raise $1718.60.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the Frenship High School student council wanted to continue their support of the cause with the virtual walk. If one attended a Frenship Football Game during October, you were sure to see several cheerleaders, pom squad, and bell crew members sporting pink, in honor of breast cancer awareness.

The mission of the Susan G. Komen Foundation is to “save lives by meeting the most critical needs in our communities and investing in breakthrough research to prevent and cure breast cancer.”

The delegate for this fundraiser was Alexa Escoto, a member of the FHS student council executive board. In addition to the Susan G. Koman walk, Escoto spearheaded the 3rd Quarter Kick Hunger fundraiser during the Varsity Football game where they raised over $350 for Lubbock Food Bank
