Frenship Schools Donate to U Can Share Food Drive

Several Frenship Schools participated in the U Can Share Food Drive, benefitting the South Plains Food Bank, and Frenship High School and Frenship Middle School had the opportunity to be a part of a live broadcast on KCBD at United Supermarkets, where they share the results of their efforts.

Frenship High School raised over $1800 for the U Can Share Food Drive through a team effort by several student service organizations. National Honor Society (NHS) advisor, Vicki Bacon, said that NHS participated by reaching out to members for donations and by “passing the bucket” during lunch periods during the week. Student Council was able to raise $350 by collecting in the stands at the senior night football game. Donations were also collected at Frenship High School's Trunk or Treat activity from other organizations such as Leo’s Club, law enforcement, and HOSA.

“This is a record donation during my term as NHS advisor,” said Bacon. “Mr. Hernandez’s [Frenship High School Principal] goal was to collect one dollar for every student here at FHS, and we got very, very close. We will aim for that again next year.”

At Frenship Middle School, the Student Council hosted student dress-up days, where students could give a donation to participate, and they also had a parent donation drive at their Thanksgiving lunch. Frenship Middle School raised over $1,200 for U Can Share.
