Bennett Elementary Host Open House

Earlier in the school year, parents visited Bennett Elementary for a conference, but campus administrators wanted another opportunity for parents to visit their child’s classroom and see what they are doing. One of the many special aspects about the spring semester open house is the fact that it is student led.

“Our goal for Open House is to facilitate positive discussions with parents about student growth and to highlight their student’s work in a positive way,” said Kimberley Moore, Vice Principal at Bennett.

The open house will take place January 20, and January 23-27. Each grade level will showcase a unit of their curriculum. Each day will highlight a different grade level. All open houses will start at 7:45 a.m. and end promptly at 8:15 so students can carry on with their busy schedules.

January 20 - 5th grade students will use digital math tasks cards, that were created by the students, to test parents' knowledge of concepts they have learned.  Parents and guests will view a STEM activity video, student journals, and a flip grid students created to share their word of the year.

January 23 - 4th grade parents will use a rubric to look over students’ extended responses, and students will demonstrate 2 digit x 2 digit multiplication to create a picture.

January 24 - 3rd Grade presents a Living Wax Museum.

January 25 - 2nd grade parents will complete a scavenger hunt.  They will also view their student’s poetry journal, play a math game, and look at their student’s writing notebook and science papers.

January 26 - 1st grade parents will look at student research, their writing, and watch their Pebble Go videos over their research.

January 27 - Kindergarten will show their research over the Inuit and Artic animals.
