Crestview Elementary raises $40,000 during Glow Run Fundraiser

Students from Crestview Elementary raised funds to participate in the Glow Run. All proceeds from the fundraiser went directly back to the school for staff members and students’ school supplies for the next school year.

Crestview Library Media Specialist, Haley Beardemphl, says that the students had fun raising the money and enjoyed participating in Glow Day.

“This was a fun way for our students to raise money for our school. It was arranged by our fabulous PTA. Students collected pledges for each lap they ran, then on the day of the glow run, every student wore a matching shirt and participated in a fun run in the gym with the lights off, neon lights, glow bracelets/necklaces, and music. It was a blast,” said Beardemphl.

The goal of the Glow Run was to give back to those who pour into the lives of students.

“Every staff member is being given $250 in reimbursement on supplies for their classrooms. In addition, the PTA will be purchasing some of our students’ school supplies next year, such as pencils and paper products to alleviate the burden of school supply costs on our family members,” said Beardemphl.

This is Crestview’s third year hosting the Glow Run and was the most successful.

“Our beginning goal was to raise $25,000. But, through the generosity of our students’ family and friends, we kept crushing that goal as the days went on. Once we raised $25,000, we thought, ‘Why not make it $30,000?!’ When we hit that the next day, we raised the bar again! Much to our delight and surprise, our students raised just shy of $40,000!”

Top earners even had a little extra fun getting to spray silly string on teachers and coaches in a school-wide assembly.
