Terra Vista Middle School hosts annual Students vs. Teachers Basketball and Volleyball Games

This year the annual Students vs. Teachers Basketball and Volleyball Game had a special guest, Trey Culver.

Culver shared the importance of working hard in all that you do and discovering your “why.”

“First and foremost, you must understand that hard work is a sacrifice. If you’re going to work hard you have to make sacrifices, and whatever you choose to do give it your all. Next, remember that hard work is a habit,” said Culver.

He explained to the students how to stay motivated, even when you have a bad day.

“I was once asked how do I work hard even when I have a bad day, and honestly, I did not know how to answer the question. I started reflecting on my habits and noticed that hard work became second nature to me. I chose to work hard every day, and give every day 100%, and over time it became a habit.”

“I was once told that hard work is like a soft bed, it’s easy to get into and hard to get out of. That is why it's important to make hard work your habit. The last point I want to share is asking yourself, ‘what’s your why?’ I believe that we are all on this earth to do something special. Whatever you are going to do you have to have a purpose behind why you are doing it.”

“When hard times come, and they’re going to come, when you have motivation, when you have a ‘why’, and when you have a purpose bigger than the obstacle in front of you, you’ll be able to push through and persevere.”

Culver not only gave an encouraging message to the TVMS students, but he also served as the coach on the student’s basketball team during the game.

Terra Vista Middle School says that this event is a fun way to wrap up the school year and provides something fun for the students to look forward to.

Although the competition was fierce, anyone who attended the games would admit that the teachers came to dominate the competition this year.

Thank you, Trey Culver, for sharing an inspiring message with Terra Vista Middle School!
