Girls Basketball Makes a Swoosh in District Competition

The Frenship High School Girls Basketball team is dishing out wins. The Tigers visited Midland last Friday, January 12, where they took the victory over the Midland High Bulldogs with a final score of 74-26. The winning streak continued into this week as they defeated Odessa High at home on January 16, with a final score of 82-13 over the Bronchos.  

Midland High Game Stats  

  • Abbi Holder, 16 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals 
  • Addisyn Bollinger, 14 points, 5 assists 
  • Jada Jackson, 12 points, 6 rebounds 
  • Kiah Buchanan, 10 points, 4 rebounds 

Girls Head Basketball Coach Trent Hilliard wants to shout out Jada Jackson and Andie Caddel in the Odessa High game. Jada Jackson, the only freshmen on the team, had a huge double-double. Andie Caddell had perfect shooting -  2 for 2 from the three and 4 for 4 from the free throw line.

  • Jada Jackson 15 points, 16 rebounds 
  • Abbi Holder 15 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists 
  • Abby Boyce 12 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists 
  • Andie Caddel 10 points, 3 assists 
  • Kiah Buchanan 10 points, 6 rebounds 

Coach Hilliard is proud of how the team has grown and matured after every game. After starting off district play with a loss, the Tigers have certainly bounced back and are anticipating a big game this evening against Midland Legacy.  

“The team has really responded to the loss against San Angelo Central in a positive way. They have defeated each of the last 3 district opponents by an average score of 77-21. The team moves to 25-3 overall and 3-1 in district,” said Coach Hilliard. “Tonight, they travel to Midland to play Midland Legacy who is also 3-1 in district. The winner will take over sole possession of 2nd place heading into the 2nd round of district play.” 

Keeping their eye on the prize is going to be key for the Girls in the next upcoming games.  

 “The next three games will go a long way in determining the playoff seedings as Frenship travels to Legacy tonight, Permian on Tuesday, and then hosts a rematch with San Angelo Central on Friday, January 26,” said Coach Hilliard.
