Girls Basketball Sets New School Record for All-Time Leading Scorer

After two wins for the Frenship High School Girls Basketball team this week, the Tigers will clinch a share of the District Championship for the 8th Consecutive Season. The highly anticipated game against San Angelo Central could not have played out better. The Tigers were victorious over the San Angelo Bobcats with a final score of 72-49. The Girls played even harder against the Midland High Bulldogs celebrating another victory, with a final score of 85-25.

“What a great week we had with two home games!  We avenged our earlier loss to San Angelo Central with a dominating win over the Lady Cats and then were even more impressive in our 60-point victory over the Midland High Lady Dawgs,” said Girls Head Basketball Coach Trent Hilliard.

During the Midland High game Abbi Holder became the All-Time Leading Scorer in Frenship History. Holder now has 1,380 points in her Frenship career, topping the previous record set by Summer Lawlis with 1,377 points from 1991-1995.

“A four-year starter, we couldn’t be more proud of the accomplishment,” said Coach Hilliard. “Not only does it speak to the type of player that Abbi is, but it also speaks to the teammates that she has had the last four years. Way to go, Abbi Holder!”

After making her 1,380th point, Holder was honored with a celebratory banner as the rest of the team rallied around. Holder will continue to up the leading score as the rest of the District season continues.

To make the Midland High game even more memorable, the middle school girls basketball teams from all four of the Frenship Middle School were honored and recognized at the game.
