Frenship ISD Teacher Awarded LCU Preservice Educator of the Year

Earlier this month, Alexandra Gomez was surprised in her classroom at the Frenship High School Ninth Grade Center with the Preservice Educator of the Year Award by Lubbock Christian University. Justin Burrus, the Ninth Grade Center Principal, and Jerry Jerabek, an Assistant Professor of Education at Lubbock Christian University, presented Gomez with the award.

The selection for this award was decided through nominations from the professors in the school of education there at LCU. The award goes to the best student teacher of the year, and this year Gomez was selected.

Gomez graduated from the Lubbock Christian University School of Education this past December and immediately started at the Frenship Ninth Grade Center after student teaching at Frenship Middle School.

Gomez expressed that receiving this award meant a lot to her and she is grateful for her student teaching experience.

“I had a very long journey on getting my teaching degree,” said Gomez. “From working two full-time jobs and going to school full time, plus being a mom of four kiddos. I worked my tail off during my student teaching and learned so much from my students at Frenship Middle School!”

Congratulations, Gomez! We are excited to have you at Frenship!
