Seal of Biliteracy Banquet Photo Album
Family, friends, and teachers from elementary, middle school, and high school came together to honor the nine students during Frenship ISD’s fourth annual Seal of Biliteracy Banquet. This year marked the largest class of Frenship students who have earned the coveted seal.
Senon Cruz, Frenship ISD’s Bilingual and ESL Coordinator, says many of these students started the Dual Language program at Frenship in pre-k and have continued down the pathway to becoming bilingual and biliterate, a talent very few high school students have.
“Being bilingual and biliterate is a power that no one can take away from you,” Cruz told the students at the banquet. “Mastering two languages means more than passing tests or completing assignments. It means you’ve built a bridge between cultures, history, and communities.”
Earning the Seal of Biliteracy is more than an award showing the students’ academic success in two languages. This accomplishment opens doors for the students academically through scholarships and makes them more marketable in the workforce as they begin their journeys toward future careers.
“You’ve learned how to not just speak and write in two languages – you’ve learned how to live in them,” Cruz told the students. “You’ve read stories that shaped you in one language and written your own in another. You’ve translated ideas between worlds. You’ve helped your classmates, your families, and your communities understand each other more deeply. Being bilingual isn't just a skill; it’s a gift and responsibility.”
