Frenship ISD is proud to welcome Daniel Frescas back to the district as the Head Wrestling Coach for Frenship Memorial High School. With a decade of experience in education and a passion for developing student-athletes, Frescas brings a strong foundation of leadership and program-building to the new campus.
Frescas is originally from Amarillo, Texas, where he wrestled for both Palo Duro and Tascosa High School. Following high school, he served four years in the U.S. Army. After completing his service, he returned home to Amarillo and began coaching club wrestling in 2013, working with athletes ranging from ages 4 to 18.
“My wife and I both worked for Frenship ISD several years ago. We left for the DFW and kept strong ties to Frenship, after graduating from UNT and getting our teacher certification we decided to make the move back home!” said Coach Frescas.
With 10 years in education, Frescas has served in multiple roles. He began his career as a paraprofessional before transitioning into coaching.
“I started off in education as a paraprofessional, then I transitioned into coaching first as an assistant at Palo Duro then a varsity assistant at Prosper High School where I was lucky enough to coach under my mentor Sion King. During my time at Prosper I was able to help coach 11 district champions, 46 regional qualifiers, five regional champions, 19 state qualifiers, seven state placers, two state finalists and two state champions. Overall, as a team never finishing worse than top three in district or worse than top five at regionals, and a top 5 state finish for boys in 2020-21,” said Coach Frescas.
After taking a two-year hiatus from wrestling, Frescas served as the head boys and girls soccer coach and assistant cross-country coach at Bonham High School. He returned to wrestling in 2023 to launch the first-ever wrestling program at Celina High School. In just its second year, the program celebrated three regional qualifiers.
Now stepping into his role at Frenship Memorial, Frescas is eager to get to work and grow a successful and meaningful program.
“I’m excited to develop young men and women of character who can succeed both on and off the mat,” said Coach Frescas. “I also look forward to building positive, impactful relationships with students and the entire Memorial community. My goal is to cultivate a lasting culture and legacy of excellence.”
Frescas and his wife, Valerie, who is also an educator, will be relocating to the area with their nine-year-old son, Theodore.
“We are excited to invest in the district and grow alongside the students, families, and staff we’ll be serving,” said Coach Frescas.
Welcome home, Coach Frescas! Frenship Memorial High School is excited for the future of wrestling under your leadership.
