Frenship ISD is proud to announce Taylor Cain as the Head Boys Track Coach at Frenship Memorial High School. With more than a decade of coaching and teaching experience, Cain brings a strong legacy of leadership, program development, and student-athlete success to the new campus.
Cain is no stranger to Texas high school athletics. As a third-generation coach, he comes from a family deeply rooted in education and sports.
“I come from a family of Texas high school coaches—both of my grandfathers and my father served as coaches,” said Cain. “Coaching and education have always been a part of my life, and I’m honored to continue that legacy. The opportunity to join the tradition of excellence at Frenship ISD is something I’m truly excited about.”
Now entering his 15th year in education, Cain has served in several leadership roles throughout his career. Currently, he is finishing out the school year as the Head Boys Track Coach and Offensive Coordinator at Idalou ISD. During his time there, he led the track program to historic success, claiming back-to-back District 2-3A Track and Field Championships in 2023 and 2024, Idalou’s first since 2010, and earning the 2024 Area Team Championship. Cain also grew the boys track program to include more than 65 athletes.
Prior to his time at Idalou, Cain coached at Monterey High School in Lubbock ISD. There, he held multiple positions including Head Track Coach, Offensive Coordinator, Special Teams Coordinator, and Varsity Receivers Coach. During his tenure, he helped guide teams to eight playoff appearances in ten years, led a top 25 scoring offense in Texas in 2019, and developed six All-State receivers. Cain also coordinated offensive schemes across multiple campuses and established development programs for student-athletes in grades 7–12.
“When the opportunity to help launch a new high school from the ground up came along, I knew it was something special,” said Cain. “It’s a rare and exciting chance to help shape a new culture and set a strong foundation—I’m thrilled to be part of the Frenship Memorial team.”
As Frenship Memorial High School prepares to open its doors, Cain is looking forward to creating a lasting impact on the campus and community.
“I’m most excited to build new traditions and create something meaningful with the Frenship Memorial community from day one,” said Cain.
Cain earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Texas Tech University. He and his wife, Madeleine, have called the Lubbock area home for the past decade and are eager to begin this next chapter with Frenship.
“We’re excited for the journey ahead and grateful to be joining such a great district,” Cain shared. “Being part of the Memorial family is something we truly look forward to.”
Welcome to Frenship, Coach Cain! The future of boys track at Frenship Memorial High School is in great hands.
