Frenship ISD is proud to announce Angela VanGundy as the Lead Agricultural Science Teacher and FFA Advisor for Frenship High School. VanGundy brings more than a decade of agricultural education experience to her new role. A native of Colorado City, Texas, VanGundy grew up actively involved in FFA and 4-H, laying the foundation for her lifelong commitment to agricultural education.
“I moved to Lubbock in May 2021 after my husband was appointed Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Lubbock in August 2020. Prior to relocating, I spent eight years teaching in South Texas,” said VanGundy. “I earned a bachelor’s degree in Ornamental Horticulture and a master’s degree in Agricultural Education from Texas A&M University–Commerce (now known as Texas A&M University–East Texas).”
VanGundy has completed 13 years in the classroom, having taught agricultural science in districts across Texas, including Rockwall, Louise, Victoria, and now Frenship. She joined Frenship ISD in 2021 and has quickly become a valued leader on campus. In addition to her classroom expertise, she has been involved in numerous leadership initiatives, including serving on the CTE Leadership Work Group, CTE Advisory Committee, and Frenship ISD’s Aspiring Administrator Leadership Academy.
When asked about the upcoming school year, VanGundy expressed excitement and gratitude.
“What I appreciate most about Frenship ISD is its unique ability to feel like a close-knit community despite its large size,” said VanGundy. “While the district serves a growing and diverse population, it still maintains a strong sense of connection, support, and collaboration among students, staff, and families. The welcoming atmosphere, commitment to excellence, and shared values make it a truly special place to work and grow.”
Beyond her professional life, VanGundy is a proud wife and mother.
“My husband and I have been married for 24 years and are proud parents of three children,” she said. “Our daughter will be a sophomore at Frenship High School next year. One of our sons recently graduated from South Plains College with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Welding, and our other son is currently attending Tarleton State University in Stephenville.”
Frenship ISD is excited to welcome VanGundy into her new leadership position and looks forward to the continued success and growth of the agricultural sciences program under her guidance.
