Frenship High School Baseball Wraps up Strong Season

The Frenship High School Baseball Team recently concluded a successful season marked by determination, growth, and a relentless drive to compete. Head Coach Chad Reynolds commended his players for their impressive development and the heart they showed from start to finish.

“I feel like this team performed above everyone else’s expectations,” said Coach Reynolds. “I think all of the guys in this program expected to have a really good season, but I feel like they felt like they had something to prove.”

That determination was evident from the start. Early in the season, the Tigers faced off against several high-caliber programs during tournament play. According to Coach Reynolds, competing with and beating these elite teams helped instill an important belief in the players.

“With this team being so young and inexperienced, it was really important for us to realize that we were just as good as them early in our season,” he explained.

A major turning point came at the beginning of district play, when Frenship swept Midland High, a team widely expected to take the district title. The confidence gained from that series carried the team forward with momentum and belief.

Another defining moment of the season came in Odessa, where the Tigers clinched the district championship by winning two games against Permian on the same day. Facing adversity and pressure, the team showed unwavering resolve. Coach Reynolds is so proud that the Tigers took the title as District 2-6A champs for the 4th year in a row.

“Winning 2 games at Permian on the same day to clinch the district championship defined the toughness of our team and the resiliency they had,” said Coach Reynolds. “There was a lot of adversity that weekend, and our guys showed a tremendous amount of toughness.”

Throughout the season, the Tigers showcased growth not only in skill but also in mindset and maturity. With a blend of veteran leadership and youthful energy, the team improved with each passing game. Coach Reynolds emphasized how impressed he was with their mental toughness.

“These guys did a very good job of having a short memory and moving on from the past, good or bad,” said Coach Reynolds. “They seemed to mature as the season went on and were able to keep a good mental approach, which is probably more important in baseball than the physical side of things. I was proud of the mental growth of this team!”

A strong sense of unity was another key ingredient in Frenship’s successful run. According to Coach Reynolds, the players embraced a team-first mentality, showing up each day with the desire to compete and win as a group.

“These guys were also very unselfish. They really had a team-first attitude and cared about winning,” said Coach Reynolds. When you have a bunch of guys that care about that, it makes for a fun year, and that’s what it was!”

Looking back, Coach Reynolds hopes his players walk away from the season with a powerful lesson about perseverance and belief.

“I hope this team takes with them the lesson that if they believe they can do something and expect to do something, then it is possible,” said Coach Renyolds. “It won’t always be easy, and there might be some struggle, but just keep showing up and working every single day, and good things can happen.”

As for the future, there is plenty to be excited about.

“I feel like the future of this team is bright. We will bring back a lot of position players with a lot of experience,” said Coach Reynolds. “We are going to have to find some guys to fill some big roles on the mound... but I feel confident we will have some guys step up and fill those roles.”

For Coach Reynolds, one of the most rewarding parts of the season was witnessing how the team evolved.

“We lost so many guys last year. We just weren’t sure about the leadership of this team or how they would react, especially when there was adversity. They really became a team fast! There was good leadership, and they had great chemistry. When you can see a team develop this and then go out and compete at a high level, it is really rewarding,” said Coach Reynolds.

Way to go, Frenship Baseball! The Tiger family is proud of how you represented grit, growth, and the heart of a champion this season.
