Frenship ISD’s five-time District Spelling Bee champion is headed to the Scripps National Spelling Bee for a third year. Matthew Noel, a Frenship Middle School eighth grader, earned a spot at nationals after claiming first place at the United Supermarkets Regional Spelling Bee last Saturday hosted at the YWCA’s Legacy Event Center.

“Events like this let our students know that we care about them when they are away from school and that we value their learning. We were glad to see the happiness and joy on their faces!”

On Friday, March 26 and Saturday, March 27, 50 FHS students traveled to San Angelo Central High School to compete in the District UIL Academic, Speech, and Debate Competition. The group earned the overall second place trophy.

This week, Crestview first graders received a special visit from Frenship Police Officer James Baughcum as a part of their campus Career and Technical Education program lesson.

The Tigers played game one against the Bobcats back in March during the First Bank Classic tournament winning 10-7. On Tuesday they faced off again for game two.

The Tigers played Odessa High last weekend in a close match up that ended with Odessa on top 7-9. On Tuesday, the Tigers took another hit to their record when they fell to Midland High 0-2.

Frenship Girls Track team took home first place and the boys placed fifth at the Lubbock Invitational Track meet at Lowrey Field at Plains Capital Park.

Last weekend Frenship Boys and Girls wrestling teams competed in a Wrestling Quad against Monterey High School, Coronado High School, and Hereford High School at the FHS Ninth Grade Center.

Earlier this week students from Frenship High School and the FHS Ninth Grade Center competed in the Area Unified Track Meet. Overall, the group placed second and are headed to the Regional competition at Lubbock Christian University on April 15.
