Students across the state have been preparing all year for this week’s STAAR exams. Frenship students are prepared academically and they also know they have the support from their peers, teachers and parents.

Fourth grade students at Westwind Elementary came up with a creative way to enhance their vocabulary by developing a Word Catcher Wall.

Fourth grade students at North Ridge Elementary enjoyed a hands-on Native American experience as part of a study about the culture. They named their own tribes, made posters with pictographs and alphabets and made fry bread – a tasty cuisine founded by Native Americans.

Second grade students in Mrs. Maddox’s class at Crestview Elementary spent time researching inventors as part of a social studies project. Students were given an assignment to research a scientist and partnered with another student to discover four facts about the inventor.

Friday night’s softball thriller for Frenship may not exactly align with David versus Goliath, but a few big strikes by the underdog Tigers took down the previously untarnished and state-ranked Permian Lady Panthers.

The Frenship Band’s auxiliary units competed at the Caprock Color Guard Circuit Championships last weekend. More than 70 students competed in individual and team events with amazing results.

FHS Juniors in the Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy are hosting a throwback prom for FISD teachers and staff.

Bennett Elementary student Matthew Noel took first place at the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal’s 67th Annual Regional Spelling Bee last weekend. Noel will advance to the 2018 Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. in May.

Congratulations to FHS Ninth Grade Center principal Heath Simpson on being named the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals Region 17 Principal of the Year.

It’s become a great tradition for the students members of Frenship’s Junior National Honor Society, and a tradition that spreads cheer during this holiday season.
