The group was awarded the “Outstanding Student Council” award in the Pride and Patriotism, Community Service, Drug and Alcohol Awareness, and Safety Awareness categories.

Frenship High School Student Council Advisor Courtney Ferguson was awarded Student Council Advisor of the Year for district five.

"Being elected Student Council Advisor of the Year is an absolute honor," Ferguson said. "I could not do it without the amazing teachers at Frenship High School who dress up, decorate doors, give their time and money, and participate in all of the council's shenanigans. It's the Tigers that choose to make our campus a fun and helpful place to be that makes me the most proud."

During the conference the students learned about being agents of change and heard from several speakers from around the world.

"The state conference is a great experience for the council for three main reasons," Ferguson said. "One reason is that it helps the students connect with kids from all over the state that have the same vision and to nurture self-esteem, pride, and leadership in all of the students and faculty that attend their schools. The second reason is that it is a great idea generator and motivator for reflecting on what projects we did this year, and how to make next year even better. The third reason is that it gives my current delegates a time to step away from their crazy schedules and just be together in a fun and healthy way. It's an amazing few days, and I hope to continue to attend in the future."

Ferguson said that after the conference, her group was inspired to give back to the community even more.

“After the conference, the council donated goods to a local foster care system in honor of this year's state project entitled ‘Reset a Child's Life,’" Ferguson said. “This week student council is sponsoring a sock drive for a local elementary.  There are so many amazing things happening with this service organization!”
