Frenship ISD Hosted District Wide Fine Arts Showcase

The Showcase for Frenship ISD Fine Arts has been going spectacularly well. Attendance was great and they were able to showcase the myriad talents of the Frenship students.

The two-week showcase began on April 18th with two Winter Guard shows in the Tiger Pit. The crowd was fantastic with over 250 friends and family in attendance. These students performed their shows from this past Winter Guard contest season where they traveled to Dallas and competed in the North Texas Color Guard Association. The groups had a fantastic season with four promotions and six top-three finishes.

Next the dance department with around 300 students from Jazz I-IV and Tap I-IV classes taking the stage. There were four shows including a show at the Ninth Grade Center, a Frenship student performance, and two parent performances. Dances displayed many types of styles including jazz, contemporary, fosse, hip hop, pom hop, Broadway tap, and rhythmic tap dancing. Anyone and everyone who takes a dance class was invited to join the show where we emphasize creativity and the acceptance of all students.

Throughout the event the Frenship art department had over 475 works of art displayed in the Performing Arts Center. They also held an arts and craft event for children, where they offered face painting, pottery lessons, and a community painting project.

The second week, Frenship’s theatre department presented their One Act Play performance, “People, Places & Things.” Frenship’s One Act Play advanced to the Texas State Meet OAP contest and performed on Saturday, May 7.

The next presentation was the high school choir’s Music Production Showcase where several students were joined by a professional band singing an eclectic mix of pop and past radio music hits. The audience was truly enthused with great participation, singing, and clapping along!

The next concert was by the Frenship band department. Performances were given by the Concert Band, Symphonic Gold, Symphonic Blue, and Wind Symphony totaling 274 students. Each ensemble performed a few of their UIL concert selections and each band also presented a new selection. The performances were all well attended by parents and friends.

The Fine Arts Showcase concluded with an exceptional performance by the FISD Elementary Honor Choir, Frenship High School Choir, and Frenship High School Wind Ensemble.

Across the district, Frenship ISD had a total of 1,260 students participate in the Fine Arts Showcase!
