Frenship Cheer Competes in State Finals

After months of hard work, the Frenship Cheerleading team traveled to Fort Worth on January 13 to compete in the UIL State Spirit Championship.  The team was one out of 71 total schools to advance to the Top 20 6A Division 1 Final round. Frenship cheer was the only team from District 2-6A to make the finals in the Championship. Team captains Brenlee Wells and Kaylie Perez provided leadership for the team throughout the preparations and at the competition.

Frenship High School Cheer Coach, Kayci Smith, shared that the team spent long hours preparing for the competition and that she was incredibly proud of how the team handled themselves.

“This team spent hours before school, on weekends, and over the break preparing for battle and their hard work paid off. We had last-minute changes before getting on the bus and once we made finals, we had limited time to practice and make changes the judges suggested. We found a spot at the top of a parking garage and got to work! It is not an easy task to go in and get one shot at finals, one shot at a medal, and they handled themselves with pride, integrity, amazing character, and outstanding athleticism!  We could not be more proud of them!” said Smith.
