Frenship High School One Act Students Receive Awards and Prepare for Area Competition

Frenship students earned the Bi-District Champion title with their performance of Sweet Nothing in My Ear, a play that uses a blend of spoken English and American Sign Language.

Jaida Christy and Hannah Brown both received Honorable Mention All Star Cast. Bree Burchett and Taylor Stephens were awarded All-Star Cast.

Jake Lierman, Theater Department Head, said that the students have dedicated time into studying the Deaf Community to better tell the story. “They dive into the story and try to immerse themselves into the world of the Deaf Community. Watching these kids create a love and empathy for another culture is just breathtaking,” said Lierman.

There are 24 students involved in the FHS Varsity One Act program. “We have four technicians, sixteen actors and four alternates,” said Lierman. All students work collaboratively together to make the story come to life.

One Act competes in the area competition this Saturday, April 1, in Abilene, TX.

A public performance will be announced after the competition this weekend. For more information on Frenship’s One Act click here.

Congrats to all the One Act students and good luck with the area competition!
