Frenship Military Graduate Surprises Sister at Legacy Elementary

Specialist Logan Rainbolt, a Frenship Alumni, returned from Syria on Thursday afternoon, but he didn’t tell his younger sister, Skylar, a third grader at Legacy Elementary.

While a regular class lesson was going on, Logan was waiting inside to surprise his sister, who had not seen her brother in about 11 months. Little did all the students in Skylar’s class know how exciting the afternoon would turn out to be.

When the other students realized what was happening, they quietly held their breaths and covered their mouths in pure excitement.

Logan walked up behind Skylar and tapped her on the shoulder, and Skylar exclaimed how surprised she was when she turned her head around and saw her older brother standing next to her with a big smile. “I thought it was my friend who tapped me on the shoulder. Honestly, I was really surprised. Mom said he was still in a different place yesterday, so I was really surprised to see him here,” said Skylar.

Logan explains how he kept the secret from his sister. “I told her I would pick her up from school in my uniform. I owed her that much after being gone for almost 11 months. She didn’t know I was coming so it was a complete surprise. I got to mess with her a little bit, which made it more fun. I love her to death,” said Logan.

Logan graduated from Frenship High School in 2020. Logan has been serving in the 321st Engineer Company in the Army Reserves located in Houston, TX. Logan spent most of his deployment stationed in Syria. He currently plans on returning to the Army after taking some time to spend with family.

Skylar is excited to have her big brother back at home. “It means so much to me, I can’t even put it into words.”

Thank you for your service, Logan, and welcome home!
