The regional competition welcomes young scientists and engineers from across the South Plains to present projects they have researched, designed, and developed throughout the school year. Students from all nine Frenship ISD elementary schools, Alcove Trails Middle School, and Frenship High School packed up their science projects and headed to the United Supermarkets Arena for the 70th Annual South Plains Regional Science and Engineering Fair.
Frenship High School senior Helen Lin delivered an outstanding performance at the fair, earning 3rd Place in the High School Physical Science Division and 1st Place in Computer Science (Senior Division). Lin’s project stood out among competitors and earned her a spot advancing to two prestigious competitions.
Lin qualified for the Texas State Science and Engineering Fair (TXSEF), which will be held March 27–28 at Texas A&M University in College Station, and was also selected as an International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) Qualifier, advancing to the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair May 9–15, 2026, at the Phoenix Convention Center.
Lin developed her project through the Frenship High School Scientific Research and Design class, where students spend the school year designing, budgeting, and building a working prototype. Her project was judged in the computer science category due to the programming involved, though many projects can span multiple scientific fields.
Frenship ISD is proud of all the students who represented their campuses at the regional competition. Check out the list below to see the awards and recognitions Frenship students earned at this year’s South Plains Regional Science and Engineering Fair.
