Frenship High School Senior Makes History as First YWCA Youth Leadership Honoree

Frenship High School senior Brinkley Coker has earned a historic honor, becoming the first student from Frenship ISD to be named a Youth Leadership Honoree at the YWCA of Lubbock Women of Excellence Awards Banquet. The prestigious recognition highlights her outstanding leadership, academic success, and deep commitment to serving others.

Ranked 7th in a class of 821 students with a GPA of 103.71, Coker exemplifies excellence in and out of the classroom. She has balanced rigorous academics with leadership roles across campus, including Varsity Cheer Captain, member of the Varsity Track and Field team, and involvement in organizations such as National Honor Society, Superintendent Select, PTSA, and Unity Council.

Coker’s impact extends well beyond Frenship ISD. Through six years with the National Charity League, she has contributed more than 120 hours of service to organizations, including the South Plains Food Bank, Meals on Wheels, Salvation Army, Special Olympics, and High Point Village. Her leadership roles within the organization reflect a commitment to inclusion, service, and community engagement.

“As her school counselor, I have had the privilege of witnessing Brinkley's remarkable journey as a student, athlete, and servant leader. She embodies the values of integrity, compassion, and resilience that this award seeks to honor,” said Sara King, Frenship High School Lead Counselor.

Coker was nominated through a competitive application process requiring recommendations from a school counselor/administrator, teacher, and community member. Her dedication to leadership and service set her apart among candidates across the Lubbock area.

During her acceptance speech, Coker reflected on the significance of the honor.

“To be recognized alongside such amazing women of our community is such an honor. Each of you inspires me with your passion, service, and dedication. I want to give all the glory to God. He is a strong presence in my life and has shaped me into who I am, and I am so thankful to be blessed with this opportunity,” said Coker.

In addition to her academic and service accomplishments, Coker has excelled as a student-athlete, earning multiple cheerleading honors, including TGCA All-State and NCA All-American recognition, and contributing to a record-setting relay team in track and field. Her involvement in Unified Track further demonstrates her commitment to inclusion and teamwork among students of all abilities.

After graduation, Coker plans to attend Texas Tech University Honors College and major in Biology with a concentration in Pre-Med Health Sciences, with the goal of pursuing a doctorate in medicine or physical therapy.

Brinkley Coker’s historic achievement reflects not only her personal dedication but also the strength of student leadership within Frenship ISD. Her example continues to set a standard of excellence, service, and integrity for future generations of Frenship students.

Congratulations, Brinkley!
