Lifelong Frenship Tiger Named Frenship High School Head Baseball Coach

After spending a lifetime in Frenship blue, Tyler Lloyd is stepping into a role that represents both his past and the future of Frenship Baseball.

“Playing here, coaching here, and now having the opportunity to lead this program going forward — I just feel extremely blessed,” said Lloyd. “It’s been my dream job since I got into coaching, and to see it come to fruition is a surreal moment for my family and me.”

A lifelong Frenship Tiger since kindergarten, Lloyd’s time at Frenship laid the foundation for a successful collegiate and coaching career. Following graduation, he continued his baseball journey on scholarship at Lubbock Christian University, where his team made back-to-back NAIA World Series appearances.

Lloyd is now entering his 12th year of coaching, including four years of experience as a head baseball coach. During his time leading the Tulia baseball program, he guided the team to a 20-win season and its first playoff appearance in seven years. He returned home to Frenship in 2025 as the Frenship High School Assistant Baseball Coach, where he has already built strong connections within the program.

“I’m looking forward to continuing to do what I love at a school and in a community that has meant so much to me over the course of my life,” said Lloyd. “I’m excited about the opportunity to continue working with these kids and pushing them on and off the field.”

As a former student-athlete and now a coach, Lloyd has a deep understanding of Frenship’s culture of community and tradition of excellence, something he says will guide him in this new role.

“I want our parents and community to know that the high standard of excellence is still the same. We’re going to love and care for your kids and continue to develop the skills needed to be good baseball players, but also good young men,” said Lloyd. “We will give them the tools they need as athletes, but when their baseball days are behind them, I want them to be equipped with life lessons that mold them into good sons, husbands, and fathers.”

Lloyd’s Tiger pride extends far beyond the field. His wife, Kenzi, is also a Frenship High School graduate and will be serving Bennett Elementary students as a reading interventionist. Their two sons, Nathanael and Nolan, will attend Bennett Elementary next year.
