With 21 years of experience in education and a passion for developing student-athletes, Loyd steps into her new role after helping establish a strong foundation for Memorial’s inaugural track program and building meaningful relationships across the Frenship Family.
For Loyd, teaching and coaching have always been rooted in purpose and passion. Throughout her life and career, she has been influenced by coaches and educators who helped shape the standard she holds herself to each day.
West Texas was not originally part of her family’s plan, but after relocating to Lubbock in 2013, Loyd quickly discovered a community that felt like home. When her oldest daughter began kindergarten at Oak Ridge Elementary, she saw firsthand the impact Frenship educators had on students and families.
“Because of the amazing staff and educators at Oak Ridge, I knew that I wanted to join the Frenship Family,” said Loyd.
Now entering her 21st year in education, Loyd brings a wide range of teaching and coaching experience to Memorial High School. She began her career in 2004 as a varsity softball coach at Somerville ISD before relocating to the Dallas-Fort Worth area, where she taught and coached at De Zavala Middle School in Irving for seven years.
After moving to Lubbock in 2013, she taught at Evans Middle School before joining Frenship ISD in 2016 as a sixth-grade math teacher at Heritage Middle School. She later served as the campus Academic Lead for the math department and was named Heritage Girls Athletic Coordinator in 2018. Most recently, Loyd taught Biology at Memorial High School while serving as an assistant Cross Country and Track Coach.
As she takes over leadership of the Girls Track program, Loyd is excited to continue building on the success and culture already established at Memorial.
“As I served as an assistant in Memorial’s track program this past year, I am excited to continue working with the amazing coaches and athletes who made the program successful in their first year,” said Loyd. “There is a strong level of trust and expectation already established with these athletes that will aid in accelerating our mutual goals.”
Loyd shared that one of her favorite parts of being in the Frenship Family has been the relationships built throughout the years, both inside and outside of the classroom.
“My favorite part about being in the Frenship Family is the relationships that my family has been blessed with over the years,” said Loyd. “We have been surrounded by the best people in Frenship.”
Outside of school, Loyd enjoys spending time with her husband, Erin, and their daughters, who have grown up in Frenship schools and activities. She shared that she is grateful for the opportunity to continue learning alongside incredible educators while pursuing excellence together as a Memorial Panther.
Congratulations on your new role, Coach Loyd! We are excited to see the continued success of Memorial Girls Track under your leadership.
