Ridgewood Elementary Names Assistant Principal

With 11 years of experience in education and a passion for building meaningful relationships, Logan Askins joins Ridgewood Elementary ready to support students, staff, and families while helping cultivate a positive learning environment.

For Askins, joining Frenship is more than a career move. It is an opportunity to become part of the district where her family has always hoped to call home.

“Frenship is the district where we wanted our kids to go to school because of its values, the expectations it sets for students and staff, and the sense of community you can feel,” said Askins. “When the opportunity came to be part of the district myself, it just felt like everything was falling into place.”

Throughout her career, Askins has served in a variety of educational roles, giving her valuable experience in both the classroom and school leadership. She began her career teaching English at Plainview High School before teaching English Language Arts at Travis Middle School in Amarillo ISD and Westover Park Junior High in Canyon ISD. While in Canyon ISD, she also participated in the district's aspiring administrator program and served as an administrative assistant before transitioning into campus leadership.

For the past four years, Askins has served as an assistant principal, first at River Road ISD and most recently at Perryton ISD, where she gained experience leading campus operations, supporting student achievement, and fostering positive school culture.

As she begins this new chapter at Ridgewood Elementary, Askins is eager to continue growing alongside the campus community.

“I'm excited to learn,” said Askins. “Starting something new can definitely be a little scary, but I think that's also where the growth happens. I'm looking forward to learning alongside an incredible group of educators, building relationships with students and families, and becoming part of the Ridgewood community.”

Askins said she knew Ridgewood was the right fit from the moment she walked through the doors.

“I looked at several schools, both nearby and farther away, but from the moment I walked into Ridgewood Elementary, I just knew,” said Askins. “Mrs. Copeland and the interview committee felt like my people from the very beginning. It was obvious they cared deeply about kids, each other, and the culture they were building. I left my interview knowing this was where I wanted to be, not just for myself, but for my family too.”

Her passion for education has remained constant throughout her career, guided by the belief that every interaction with a student leaves a lasting impact.

“I truly love education and all the different opportunities it gives us to make a difference in the lives of kids,” said Askins. “One of my favorite reminders is, 'Students may not remember everything you taught them, but they'll always remember how you made them feel.' That's something I try to carry with me every day.”

Outside of school, Askins enjoys spending time with her husband, who is her high school sweetheart, and their two children, Lathen and Kai'Lynn.

“If we're not at school, you'll probably find us at a ball field or in a gym somewhere cheering on our kids or supporting my husband's teams,” said Askins. “Sports are a big part of our lives, but so is spending quality time together as a family. I believe relationships are at the heart of everything we do, and I'm excited to get to know the students, families, and staff at Ridgewood. I can't wait to see what this year has in store!”

Welcome to Frenship, Logan Askins! We are excited to see the impact you will make at Ridgewood Elementary School.
