Frenship High School’s Fire Academy students recently participated in the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at Galaxy Stadium, climbing 2,017 steps in honor of the lives lost and the first responders who answered the call on September 11, 2001.

The students are members of the second class of Fire Academy students at Frenship High School. Through the program, students train with South Plains College as they prepare for future careers in the fire service while developing skills in leadership, teamwork, and service.

Participating students included Robert Alacran, Yaiden Chico-Holguin, Talon Claborn, Rubi Delacruz, Matthew Hernandez, Layne Mullin, Paxton Ramirez, Parker Simpson, Zachari Stephens, and Caleb Wheeler.

The Memorial Stair Climb provided the students with an opportunity to remember the sacrifices made by first responders on 9/11 while taking part in an experience connected to the career they are preparing to pursue.

As Frenship’s Fire Academy continues to grow, these students are carrying forward a tradition of service and leadership while preparing to serve their communities in the future.
