Winter Break

For several years the Rotary Club of Lubbock has been providing backpacks of food for Frenship ISD students over the Winter Break. This program has grown significantly over the years and this year a group of partners came together to provide over 300 backpacks to assist with food security over the long holiday.

The Rotary Club of Lubbock once again was the driving force of the project, First Baptist Church of Lubbock joined in as a major partner this year as well. Parkhill, Smith & Cooper joined as well, underwriting the cost of the backpacks that each student received. United Supermarket at 82nd & Frankford has been a long-time partner providing amazing services and pricing to this worthwhile project. Calvary Baptist Church also contributed.

United delivers all of the food to the Casey Professional Building and Frenship High School students from the Superintendents Advisory Council stage the food on tables in preparation for packing. The following morning volunteers from partner organizations, the Willow Bend Elementary Student Council, and Casey Professional Building staff pack all of the bags in assembly lines while enjoying Christmas music, hot chocolate, and cookies courtesy of United Supermarkets. Frenship ISD Maintenance & Custodial staff deliver the bags en masse to all 14 of Frenship's campuses.
