GIFTED & TALENTED OVERVIEW
Frenship ISD recognizes the gifted and talented student as one whose abilities, talents, and potential for accomplishment are so outstanding that they require a variety of special provisions to meet their educational needs. As students, they represent all races, socioeconomic groups, geographic locales, and environments. As adults, they are leaders in government, medicine, invention, creative arts, communication, philosophy, industry, science, and many other fields. Frenship ISD seeks to offer educational opportunities appropriate to each student’s ability, including providing for the unique needs of the gifted and talented.
The ultimate goal of the FISD’s Gifted and Talented program is to provide experiences whereby students will be challenged academically, socially, and emotionally to achieve their greatest potential to manage change and to have a sense of responsibility for self, school, community, and society.
The Gifted and Talented program at the elementary level is called ACTing (Adventures in Critical Thinking) through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, & Math).
The Gifted and Talented program at the secondary level is embedded within the core content areas and noted as GT/Pre-Advanced Placement.
Parents of Gifted & Talented students are encouraged to look into the parent tools and resources provided by the Texas Association for the Gifted & Talented (TAGT) and the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC).
