Full-Scale Exercise - May 26, 2023

DATE: May 26, 2023 (scheduled day off for staff, students already on summer break)
TIME: 7:30 a.m. to approximately noon
LOCATIONS: Terra Vista Middle School will be the main training site. There will also be emergency personnel at Willow Bend Elementary.

As part of our ongoing efforts to evaluate our safety protocols and reinforce our partnerships with local law enforcement agencies, Frenship ISD is teaming up with the City of Lubbock to hold a full-scale exercise event on Friday, May 26 at Terra Vista Middle School. This is a scheduled day off for Frenship ISD, and students and most Frenship staff will already be on summer break when the training occurs.

While this will be a closed event that only involves authorized Frenship staff, city officials, and local emergency personnel, we want to ensure our Frenship families and community members are aware of the event. The exercise will simulate an active shooter emergency and there will be a large number of first responders at Terra Vista Middle School and Willow Bend Elementary for the exercise from about 7:30 a.m. to noon.

If you’re in the area of these two campuses Friday morning, you will likely see our partner agencies including the Lubbock Police Department, Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office, Wolfforth Police Department, Wolfforth Fire and EMS, Lubbock Fire Rescue, UMC EMS, and our Frenship Police Department.

Planning for this exercise began last fall and it will provide an opportunity for our local emergency personnel to collaborate and work together as one. Due to the type of exercise and the amount of local law enforcement involved, only authorized personnel will be allowed at the exercise sites.

At Frenship, we take the safety and security of our Frenship students and staff very seriously, and while we wish these types of exercises were not necessary – this opportunity will allow our administrators and local law enforcement to work together to assess and enhance our current safety measures.
